• Following an enquiry about a loan against art we will have a confidential initial conversation about the general requirement and the art collateral on offer.
  • We will then either ask you to fill in an art loan form, or complete one for you based on the information you provide us.
  • Our advisory committee will examine the information given about the proposed art collateral and along with a preliminary valuation the committee will decide whether the opportunity meets our art lending criteria.
  • If the advisory committee outcome is positive we will then perform an extensive research programme focused on title, authenticity, and market liquidity. This will include tracking sales history, cross checking with red list databases, contacting artists estates, sending valuers and conservators to physically inspect the artwork amongst other checks.
  • If the research concludes satisfactorily, we will then make a formal offer for the potential client to consider.
  • Objects pledged as art collateral are normally held in appropriate secure storage facilities under our control. We do make exceptions to this requirement on a case-by-case basis.
  • The whole process from beginning to end will usually take about 6 – 8 weeks.
  • All the legal aspects of our loans are handled by a major London law firm.
